FAQ

Every question, answered straight

The logistics, safety policies, and program details parents ask us about most — before they ask.

The basics

Logistics & at-home sessions

Do you train in my area?

We train athletes at home nationwide. Request a session and we'll match your athlete with a vetted coach in your area. Send the request form and we'll confirm your coach match before you pay for anything.

Where exactly do sessions happen?

At your home: the backyard, the driveway, or the garage for hands-and-footwork work. Coaches never enter the house, and the curriculum is designed around the space families actually have.

How much space do we actually need?

Less than you'd think. The standard curricula are deliberately designed to run in a driveway plus about 30 feet of grass, and your coach adapts drill spacing to the room you have.

How long is a session?

A full 60 minutes of focused work: warm-up, skill blocks, live application, and a recap with the parent at the end.

Do you train year-round?

Yes. Most areas have two league seasons, so there are two big prep windows. Winter courses (January–February) get athletes ready for the spring season, and summer courses build toward fall. Cold-weather sessions use the driveway and garage without losing quality, and in-season training runs all year.

Trust

Safety & coach vetting

Who is present during a session?

A parent or guardian is always on the property. That's a firm policy. Coaches never enter the home and never transport athletes, and all scheduling and communication runs through Flag Training Football company channels.

How are coaches vetted?

Every coach passes a background check before taking a single session, and every coach has real experience coaching kids. We evaluate how they teach, not just what they know about football.

Is flag football safe?

It's non-contact by design: no tackling, no blocking, no pads. That's a big part of why it's one of the fastest-growing youth sports in the country. Our coaches also run age-appropriate warm-ups and keep drills controlled.

Do parents need to sign anything?

Yes, a standard liability waiver before the first session, which you can read on our waiver page. It's the same acknowledgment youth sports programs everywhere use.

Practical stuff

Equipment & weather

What equipment do we need to provide?

None. Your coach brings cones, flag belts, agility gear, and footballs sized to your athlete's age band. Your athlete needs sneakers or cleats, weather-appropriate clothes, and a water bottle.

What happens when the weather is bad?

Bad-weather sessions reschedule within a 14-day window at no cost. In colder months, hands-and-footwork sessions can move into a garage so the course keeps its rhythm.

What if we need to cancel or move a session?

Give your coach reasonable notice through our scheduling channel and we'll find a new slot. Courses are meant to be completed, so we work with your calendar.

Finding the fit

Ages & programs

What ages do you train?

Ages 5–17, in curriculum age bands of 5–8, 9–10, 11–13, and 14–17. Every course is taught at one of three levels (Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced) within the athlete's band.

My child has never played. Where do they start?

Beginner Training: a patient, play-first course that covers rules, catching, flag pulling, and confidence before their first season.

Can two or three kids train together?

Yes, that's semi-private. 2–4 athletes share a coach and a backyard, everyone pays less per session, and siblings get 50% off the second child in the same session. The sibling discount isn't something checkout can verify, so contact us before you pay and we'll apply it to your total.

How do I know which program fits?

Tell us about your athlete on the request form. If you'd rather talk it through, choose the call option and we'll call you. Either way you get an honest recommendation, including “just play rec this season” when that's the right answer.

Still have a question?

Email us or send a message through the contact form. A real person answers, usually within a few hours, and we'll call you if you prefer.
