Find a Travel Flag Football Team

Travel flag football is selective, competitive, and a genuine step up. In coaching, in opponents, and in commitment. Here's what families should know before tryout season.

Eyes open

The four things to weigh

Commitment

Multiple weekly practices plus tournament weekends. Before tryouts, map a sample month against your family calendar, siblings' schedules included, and make sure it survives contact with reality.

Tryouts

Rosters are earned. Athletes are evaluated on athleticism, hands, competitiveness, and coachability in a short window, a format worth rehearsing before the day it counts.

Cost factors

Team fees, uniforms, tournament entries, and travel add up to several times a rec registration. Get the full-season number in writing from any team you're considering. Reputable programs will give it.

Season structure

Travel seasons revolve around tournaments rather than a weekly local game, and many programs run across multiple seasons of the year. Confirm the calendar before committing.

Tryout coming up?

Don't let the tryout be the first rehearsal

Our Tryout Prep program rehearses the exact drill formats evaluators use: routes on air, 1-on-1s, pursuit drills, and simulated evaluation pressure, all in a short block built backward from your tryout date, at your home.

Good to know

Travel team questions

How do travel flag football tryouts work?

Teams hold evaluation sessions (typically route running, 1-on-1s, flag-pull drills, agility testing, and short scrimmages) and select a limited roster. Our tryout preparation guide covers the format in detail, and our Tryout Prep program rehearses it with your athlete.

How much does travel flag football cost?

It varies by organization, so beware anyone quoting a universal number. Budget for team fees, uniforms, tournament entries, and travel on top of what a rec season costs. Ask any team for the full-season cost picture in writing before tryouts.

What's the time commitment?

Expect multiple practices per week plus tournament weekends that can run full days. It's a real family commitment, and the athlete should be the one driving the decision.

Is my athlete ready for travel?

Good signs: they're consistently among the stronger players in rec, they ask for more football, and they handle hard coaching well. Our rec-vs-travel guide walks through the honest checklist.
